Stinky Buddy

Parker has gotten to where now when you ask if he's stinky, he'll say, "shhhh" which means "Shoo-wee!" Listen very carefully; you can barely hear it on this video. He'll say it over and over. He can also say "buddy" now. You'll hear that toward the end.

Hey!

Parker is in to so much these days! His vocabulary is really taking off. His new favorite word is, "Hey!" and he uses it in context. For example, if you walk into a room, he'll look up and say, "Aye!" That's what it sounds like. We were in Branson earlier this week with Phillip's parents, and his Marmee was trying to get him to go to bed. However, Parker spotted Phillip and me, sat up in his pack and play, and said, "Aye! Aye!" Needless to say, he didn't end up going to sleep right then.
He also has this cute way of saying "Daddy". He sings it. He says, "DA-ddy, DA-ddy" in this really sweet high-pitched singing voice. He'll sing it while looking for Phillip. Love it! But it won't do it with Mommy. He can also say, "Shoo-wee!" But he says, "Shhh-Shhh". We have to use that alot since he is interested in the trash can.
If you say, "Parker, do you need to go night-night?" he'll say, "Ni-Ni, Ni-Ni." He also will walk to the fridge and point when he wants milk, and he'll point to the cabinet where we keep his food if he's needing a snack.
And, I hate to even write this, but I want to document it. He can also say, "Stop" (Dop), Uh-uh, and "No." Very. Clearly. and In. Context. No joke. Just ask the lady who cut his hair. And if he's trying to get something he's not supposed to, we say, "Uh-uh" or "No", and he repeats it while walking away. Let me rephrase that; he yells it while walking away. But at least he's walking away from it now. That was not the case a week or so ago.
He's really testing limits and boundaries. It's funny how our role has changed from that of caretaker to disciplinarian/parent. Taking care of a tiny baby is MUCH easier than parenting! Ha!!!
He is also really good at giving love. He grabs your face with both hands and goes in for the kiss. You can tell him to give another baby love, and he will go for it. He chased one of his little girl friends around last night trying to get more sugar from her. And he loves it when Phillip and I kiss. We'll make kissing noise, and he'll crawl up in our laps and push our faces together to get us to keep kissing. Then, he'll join in the fun. So we all 3 end up in a big kiss. So sweet! But I know in ten years it will totally gross him out.
He's 14 mos. old and at such a fun stage!!!!
An "after" shot of the infamous haircut!

He loves climbing in the cabinet in our bathroom, and he loves climbing in the cabinet in his changing table. Oh, and he loves the fly swatter. Don't worry, I Lysol it really well before I let him play with it!

First Haircut

Since Parker turned 14 months old, we decided it was time for his first haircut. That and the fact that his hair was getting shaggy...Phillip kept calling him a raggamuffin.
We decided to take him to a place designed specifically for kids...we thought it might make it a little easier. The first is a picture of him before we left; see how sweet and innocent he looks? Well, he didn't stay that way for very long. And unfortunately my camera died at the beginning, so we didn't quite catch the real action. He was AWFUL...I mean, absolutely horrible. He repeatedly told the woman, "Uh-Uh" while staring her directly in the eyes. Animal crackers didn't work, the cute airplane chair didn't work, bubbles worked for a few short seconds. He seriously ducked his head away from her, tried to grab the scissors and screamed. I had to hold his face still so she could cut. If I hadn't seen this firsthand, I probably wouldn't believe it. At first we were laughing hysterically, but toward the middle, it stopped being funny. I don't know why we expected him to sit still and allow some strange woman to mess with his hair; I guess we were expecting too much. But, true to Parker fashion, it was an event.

Baboon

On Thursday, Zane came over to play. Phillip thought it would be a good idea to go get them some balloons. You see, ever since the night before my surgery, Parker has been infatuated with balloons. The lady at Luby's gave him his very first one, and it's been a love affair ever since. We had them at his birthday party, and I think that was his favorite part of the whole day. Whenever we're in Kroger or anywhere else that has balloons, he perks up and starts going, "baloo, baloo". All of a sudden, though, it's turned in to "baboon, baboon". Don't know why he substituted the "n" for the "l" sound.
Anyway, when he woke up on Friday, I changed his diaper and we cuddled, and then we walked out into the hall. Before he could even see it, he started going, "baboon, baboon" and looked up at the ceiling to find it. I couldn't believe he remembered it! Now he just walks around the house holding it. He won't let go, either, as you can judge from the picture. He is very good at multi-tasking. He holds it while he drinks milk, plays with other toys, etc.

Hey, mom! You know how you always tell me to be gentle with Tulip? Well, here I am gently poking her in the eyeballs! I didn't think you could see us under the table...but don't worry, I've still got my balloon in my hand!

We were playing in his room earlier, and I started singing one of the songs that his puppy Scout plays. He perked up, turned away from the toy he was playing with, and crawled over to get Scout. He LOVES this toy. And Phillip and I have all the songs memorized.

Here he is playing at church last night. We had preschool play night, and Parker's favorite item was the ball pit. So...if he gets sick soon, you can tell why....I think he put all those balls in his mouth at some point.

Breakfast

Apparently I wasn't getting Parker's breakfast together quickly enough. So, he and Tulip decided to take matters into their owns hands!

Lately

I thought I'd post a lot more since I am off during the summer, but I really haven't had the time to sit down and do it! We're really enjoying our time together; he's doing so many funny things that if I posted them all, it would get a little out of control. Here's a little bit....

On Sunday, I was outside sitting on the swing and he was playing in the yard. He brought me his bubbles and said, "Bubbles, bubbles." No joke. With the "L" sound and everything. So, so smart!! When I get the wand out to blow them, he just wants to hold it. Tulip loves the bubbles, so he spends most of the time watching her eat them and laughing.

We went down to Meredith's this past weekend. Julep and Tulip had so much fun! It looks like they're in jail here begging Parker to let them out. If he could reach the latch, he definitely would have let them. Meredith would get on to them and say, "Uh-uh"...Parker thought it was really funny, so he'd repeat it and then look at Meredith to see if he was doing it right. This went on for 15-20 minutes at least!
Meredith has a pic of me and Parker and one of Pratt when he was a baby in her living room. Parker would walk up to them, point, and say, "ba-bu, ba-bu." This means, "baby". He will do that to any pic of a kid, baby, etc. He will even call other kids that. The first time he did it, he opened up his door where I keep his diapers, pointed to the baby on the diaper box and said it. I was shocked!!! I have no idea where he learned that one. If you show him a pic of a baby and say, "Where's the baby?" he'll pick out the baby. Funny, funny little boy!
